Sefwi Wiawso, Ghana; Our community outreach program arrived at a popular cocoa-growing community in the Western North Region of Ghana called Old Adiembra. In partnership with the Fisheries Commission of Ghana and our technical team, we continually sensitized smallholder farmers on regenerative agriculture practices as a natural way to build climate resilience and mitigate climate change effects. Ensuring that smallholder farmers sustainably remain in business does not only put food on our table but also improves the quality of their livelihood, families, and communities at large. Additionally, implementing regeneration farming systems helps reduce anthropogenically induced activities that have contributed to the degradation of our environment and planet.
Our insightful sessions with our farmers do not only carry information to our clients. We deliberate, learn from our farmers, and commission further research when required. While accompanying our rural farmers to sustainably improve their crop production practices, our partners from the Fisheries Commission of Ghana, led by Francis Kwesi Arthur, steered their technical team to #educate #farmers on fish farming “business.” In this case, farmers will be able to diversify their production and limit the existing effects of climate change on crop production in Ghana. The German International Cooperation (GIZ) supported this activity through its Diaspora Expert Mission (Diaspora 2030) programme for our lead expert to volunteer his knowledge and skills with us.
